Very straight-forward, this mod effectively doubles the storage capacity of your soldiers and provides them with more choices for item layouts.

Mod Information

About:
"Expanded Inventory" mod for the OpenXcom engine with the primary game running 'XCOM:UFO Defense' and presumbly for 'Terror From The Deep' as well.
This modification increases the number of single-size item slots to 50, including many more divisions of space, meaning you can carry up to 50 grenades, rifle ammo, electro-flares, etc (for a whopping 150 weight)

The primary point behind the creation of this mod is to allow the soldiers to carry many more large-sized objects, such as rocket launchers and spare rockets, in order to fully fill out their strongest soldier's inventory.
This modification works best when used in conjunction with other battlescape item/resource mods, which increase the variety of items you might want to equip on your soldiers. (compared to the normal 'XCOM:UFO Defense' item selection)

Install Instructions

Install / Use:
- Read everything in this section before doing anything.
Then read it a second time to make sure you understand it.

- Simply open and unpack the Expanded_Inventory.zip, placing the folder "Expanded_Inventory" into the folder named 'standard' which is within your OpenXCom directory.

- Once the folder is unpacked, start OpenXCom and click on the 'Options' button > 'Mods' button on the left.
You should see "Expanded_Inventory" somewhere there and for the mod to take effect, move it to the bottom of the list and enable it.
It should now over-ride all other inventory changes other mods may have made.

If for some reason you don't have a 'standard' folder for your OpenXCom directory, you're likely not using the latest update or the nightly version of OpenXCom
Get the latest nightly builds of OpenXCom at:

Obviously in order to use this mod, you need a:
- Functional "XCom: UFO Defense" version... On top of the OpenXCom installation. Refer to the OpenXCom documents on how to do this.
- A program that can open .zip files. WinZip or WinRar both work well enough.

Notes:
- Pay attention to the size of the inventory borders; ANY double-thick lines are equivalent to complete section seperations.
If you find out that you can't place an item where you thought you could, simply RIGHT CLICK (under default input scheme) to undo the item move on the inventory screen.
Now might also be a good time to read and/or change the key setup for inventory management.

- The 3 vertical inventory squares labled "SPD" are rapid-draw meaning they cost only *2* TU to move to the hand...
But that cost is only when moving towards the hand. Placing the item back into the SPD section will suffer the backpack cost.

- Many of the inventory costs have remained the same compared to the original XCOM/TFTD, except that many of the sections are now "sided"
This means the left hand will access the left side faster than the right-most spaces, and so the right to the left. The Backpack is exempt from this.

- "Belt" is now sided as well, but the cost is simply a reduction towards the nearest hand; the "Chest" and furthest belt-to-hand move have identical time costs.

Warnings:
- Not tested with other mods that modify the inventory! Conflicts may occur, and mod-order execution may be important. Re-order your mods and try again.

- NOT TESTED WITH EXTENDED OPENXCOM MODS THAT SCRIPT INVENTORY CHANGES BASED ON ARMOR! This mod is only made for and tested under the NIGHTLY versions of OpenXCom.

- !!! DO NOT USE WITH X-PIRATEZ !!!
        See the above 2 points

- Gameplay experience will change depending on the setup of any mods you use this in conjunction with.
Items may no longer fit where they used to, and may cost more to move around the inventory because of this.
Aliens will also be effected by these changes and may or may not like what's been done in this mod. YOU may or may not like how the aliens behave with this mod.
Some items may not even fit in their inventories any more if they're extremely overloaded.
*You've been warned*

Bugs/FAQ:
Q: I've setup the mod and loaded a save file, and all my units' inventories are strange now!
A: OpenXCom has become confused about what spaces items should be fitted into. The items should all still be there, so simply hit the "Remove All Items" shortcut to get them back. Do this for all the soldiers.
